Define what each measurement means
Frame size, structural opening and clear passage are different measurements. Specify the unit and reference for width and height, then record handing, opening direction and leaf arrangement. Sales and technical teams should use the same definitions so a customer's approximate opening is not mistaken for an approved manufacturing size.
Validate combinations within the range
Prepare an option matrix by system: opening type, handing, leaf arrangement, glazing, profile, threshold and hardware. For example, changing from a fixed light to an opening sash requires review of its permitted dimensions and hardware set. State how left and right are viewed, and show the opening direction in the specification. Check these definitions against the manufacturer's actual range before pricing.
Check commercial lines and revisions
Decide which items are priced by unit, size or package, and preserve identifiers for hardware and accessories. Reconcile representative quotes line by line. If handing, glazing or finish changes after issue, create a controlled revision and review its affected quantities and documents before replacing the order specification.
