Choose identifiable events
Define a short event set: product family selected, configuration completed, quote request submitted and proposal issued. Write down the trigger for each event and the identifier used to connect it to the next stage. Product-choice drop-off can reveal a confusing option, while completed designs with few submissions may point to the contact step. Use the event sequence to locate the stage needing review.
Connect source to progression
Retain the agreed campaign or page source with the submitted project so the team can follow it through qualification and quotation. The analytics brief should state which data is recorded and which system owns later commercial outcomes. Use the same stage definitions across the website and internal reporting.
Validate the collection
Check a real sequence with one inquiry and deliberate revisions, verifying that retries or repeated visits do not inflate counts. Separate preview and test activity where applicable. Review privacy and retention requirements with the data owner and collect only the information needed for the defined analysis.
