Define the task being timed
Selecting a standard product in an already configured range is different from creating the software for that range. State whether your measurement covers first load, option selection, quotation preparation or the full sales conversation. A short design interaction does not describe the time required to verify site conditions or implement a new catalog.
Test a realistic selection path
Start a test with a buyer's brief: attached or freestanding, approximate width and projection, roof preference, finish and enclosure needs. Time the steps from opening the range to saving a design or requesting a quote. Repeat on the devices customers use and note where they ask for help. Missing dimension definitions, unfamiliar option names and slow loading are different causes of delay and need different fixes.
Keep unresolved review outside the stopwatch
A product exception, missing measurement or approval can extend the project even when the preview updates quickly. Mark the task completed only when its defined inputs and outputs are ready. Measure a representative set of standard and more involved configurations before using a time claim in your own sales material.
