Product configuration and quoting software
Configure the product. Price the revision. Send the right quote.
Configurix quote configurator software keeps product rules, interactive 3D, accurate commercial logic, approvals and customer documents connected. Every proposal can reference the exact configured product and price revision behind it—then continue to the next team without rebuilding the project.

Direct definition
What a quote configurator actually does.
A quote configurator combines product configuration with pricing and customer proposal workflow. It guides a buyer, salesperson or dealer through the dimensions, components, materials, accessories and services that define a valid custom product.
The commercial result is calculated from that same product state. Price lists, formulas, quantities, account terms, discounts, tax, services and approvals can determine what each role may see and which quote revision is permitted for issue.
The quote is therefore more than a formatted document. It is a controlled view of a specific customer, configuration and price revision. Later changes create traceable versions, and an accepted result can continue to CRM, ecommerce, ERP, survey, order or another scoped project workflow.
Quote-to-project flow
Keep eight decisions attached from enquiry to acceptance.
Connected quoting removes re-entry only when the product, commercial and customer states share stable identity. Each stage below needs explicit ownership and working acceptance against the real system.
Capture the project
Start with customer, account, market, channel, language, site and requirement context instead of an anonymous document number.
Configure a valid product
Apply product families, dimensions, components, materials, accessories, dependencies, exclusions and review conditions.
Calculate the commercial state
Use approved price lists, formulas, quantities, services, account terms, tax, discounts, margins and approval rules.
Validate before issue
Confirm completeness, technical review, price authority, commercial approval and the configuration revision permitted for quotation.
Generate the customer document
Create a branded quote or proposal from the current product, price and customer record rather than copying disconnected values.
Revise without losing history
Change the product or terms through a new traceable revision and define when an earlier approval, document or acceptance becomes superseded.
Share the right revision
Send a controlled customer link or document, record the issue state and preserve which version the recipient can review or accept.
Continue the accepted project
Pass the accepted configuration and commercial context to CRM, cart, order, ERP, survey or another scoped destination without re-entry.
Quote data model
Build the proposal from a structured project.
A professional quote should identify what is being offered, how the result was calculated, which conditions apply and what the customer can do next. The exact fields and legal wording remain customer and market specific.
Identity
Quote ID, version, issue date, expiry, status, owner and related configuration revision
Customer
Contact or account, addresses, market, language, tax context and assigned salesperson or dealer
Product
Configured family, dimensions, components, materials, finishes, accessories and selected services
Validation
Complete state, technical review, price approval, warnings, exceptions and responsible reviewers
Commercial lines
Quantities, units, unit prices, formulas, discounts, tax, subtotals, total and currency
Visual evidence
Approved 3D snapshot, drawing or other scoped media linked to the same product revision
Terms
Scope, assumptions, exclusions, delivery or installation context, validity, payment and acceptance conditions
Next action
Ask a question, revise, approve, sign, pay, order, schedule survey or another controlled continuation
Category comparison
A quote builder formats. A quote configurator also governs the product.
The category names overlap in the market. Compare the underlying product definition, commercial authority, revision model and accepted destination rather than purchasing by label alone.
| Capability | Quote builder | Ecommerce | Product configurator | Quote configurator / CPQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product definition | Typed or imported line descriptions | Fixed items and variants | Rule-driven dimensions, components and compatibility | Configured product plus controlled commercial workflow |
| Visual result | Usually none or attached image | Product images | 2D or 3D configured product | Configured visual linked to quote revision |
| Price logic | Manual lines or templates | Catalog and cart pricing | May include live formulas | Price lists, formulas, accounts, approvals and validity |
| Revision identity | Document versions | Cart or order state | Saved product revision | Product, price, approval and quote revisions connected |
| Best fit | Simple service or fixed-item proposals | Direct purchase of standard products | Defining a valid configurable product | Configurable sales requiring controlled proposal and handoff |
Pricing authority
Accurate quoting begins before the document.
A correct-looking total is not enough. The implementation must establish where every input comes from, how calculations are ordered, who can change the result and what evidence proves the output.
Price source
Define whether prices originate in Configurix, ERP, ecommerce, another CPQ service or an agreed combination—and which system is authoritative at issue time.
Calculation order
Document how base product, dimensions, quantities, components, services, surcharges, discounts, tax and rounding are sequenced.
Account and market context
Apply assigned price lists, currencies, territories, customer agreements, dealer terms and permitted visibility before returning the result.
Discount and margin authority
Control which roles may discount, override or see costs and margins; route exceptions to the named approver with the full project context.
Price version and validity
Preserve the price data or version used for the quote and define how expiry, catalogue changes or later configuration edits affect validity.
Price acceptance
Test normal, boundary, account, tax, discount, service and exception scenarios against approved expected values—not only a displayed total.
Revision chain
Know exactly what changed—and what the customer accepted.
Configuration revision
What product was selected, which dimensions and options applied and which catalogue and rule version validated it.
Price revision
Which price sources, calculation inputs, discounts, tax context and approvals produced the commercial result.
Document revision
Which customer-facing quote or proposal was generated, issued, viewed, superseded or accepted.
Acceptance state
Which exact revision the customer approved and what changes require renewed acceptance before continuation.
Role-specific workflow
Show every role the right part of the quote.
Customer
Reviews the configured product, understandable commercial scope, terms and permitted next actions without receiving internal cost or margin data.
Dealer or distributor
Uses assigned catalogues, buy and sell price context, discount permissions and branded or co-branded customer output.
Salesperson
Builds and revises the project, applies permitted commercial controls and sends the quote under the correct account and market context.
Approver
Reviews only the technical or commercial exceptions within responsibility and records approval against the relevant revision.
Operations
Receives the accepted structured product and commercial context required by the scoped order, survey, planning or production workflow.
Administrator
Maintains governed products, rules, price inputs, permissions, document templates, integrations and publishing controls.
Implementation blueprint
Build one accepted quote from enquiry to handoff.
Start with a representative custom product and prove configuration, price, document, approval, customer revision and destination data together. A polished PDF is not a substitute for an accepted end-to-end result.
Baseline
Document the current quote path
Record who qualifies the project, configures the product, calculates price, approves exceptions, creates documents and enters the accepted result elsewhere.
Representative quote
Choose one complete product scenario
Use a product with meaningful dimensions, dependencies, accessories, services and pricing so the implementation proves more than a static document template.
Product model
Define the valid configuration
Capture catalogue, geometry, components, compatibility, derived quantities and review conditions using approved normal and boundary examples.
Commercial model
Define how the total is produced
Map price sources, formulas, calculation order, accounts, markets, taxes, services, discounts, margins, approvals and validity.
Document model
Design the quote from structured data
Name every required customer, product, price, visual, term and action field; define conditional sections and language or brand variants.
Revision model
Connect changes and acceptance
Decide how product and commercial edits create versions, what supersedes an issued quote and which changes require renewed approval or acceptance.
Systems
Map the quote-to-next-step handoff
Define identifiers, payloads, source ownership, authentication, retries, duplicate handling and failure visibility for CRM, ERP, ecommerce or another system.
Acceptance
Test the complete customer journey
Verify product rules, approved price examples, role isolation, documents, revisions, approvals, customer actions, mobile access and downstream acceptance together.
Measurement model
Measure quote quality and flow against your baseline.
Define the eligible population, quote start, issuable state and accepted handoff before launch. Reconcile product and quote revisions with outcomes through stable identifiers. These measures describe an evaluation method, not guaranteed performance.
Valid quote rate
Issued quotes based on configurations meeting the documented valid and review state
Time to issuable revision
Elapsed time from qualified project start to a quote revision permitted for issue
Manual correction rate
Quotes requiring avoidable product, price, tax, term or customer-data correction
Approval cycle
Time and touches required for technical, discount, margin or commercial exception approval
Customer revision rate
Issued quotes revised, separated by product, price, scope, terms and customer reasons
Expired quote rate
Open quotes reaching expiry without acceptance, rejection or an intentional renewed revision
Accepted handoff rate
Accepted quotes received by the next system or team without avoidable re-entry or clarification
Outcome reconciliation
Quoted configurations matched to CRM, cart, order or loss reason through stable identifiers
Working acceptance checklist
Test the quote, not the feature list.
Give every vendor the same product, price examples, roles, customer revision and destination system. Require evidence from the working result.
A representative customer project can be configured from normal requirements without typing the product as a free-text line.
Minimum, maximum, increment, dependency, exclusion and one technical review condition match approved examples.
The configured 3D product, specification and quote lines use the same configuration revision.
Approved price examples reproduce dimensions, options, quantities, services, account context, discounts, tax and rounding.
Public, customer, dealer, sales, approver and administrator roles receive only permitted products, prices, controls and records.
The generated quote contains the required customer, product, visual, price, term, validity and next-action fields.
A product or price change creates the agreed revision behavior and cannot silently alter an already issued document.
The system records which quote revision was issued, superseded, rejected or accepted.
The customer can review and take the permitted action at the agreed phone and desktop widths with keyboard-accessible essentials.
A discount, technical exception or expired price enters the correct review path without losing the configured project.
An accepted quote passes the required structured identifiers and fields to the next system or team.
Integration failure is visible, retryable and protected from duplicate documents, opportunities, carts or orders.
