Why pergola buyers pause after a quote

Use the selected design to identify unresolved product, scope and project questions instead of treating every delay as a price objection.

Ask what remains undecided

A buyer may still be comparing roof operation, side enclosure, appearance or the usable footprint. Ask which decision is preventing progress and show a specific alternative. Do not infer the reason from an unanswered email alone; record the customer's explanation and any technical or household decision still outstanding.

Make the commercial scope clear

Identify installation, delivery, accessories, validity and exclusions in the proposal. Keep provisional site inputs visible in the sales record. When the customer changes glazing, a screen or frame size, explain the affected components and service scope before revising the quote.

Agree the next useful action

Match follow-up to the unresolved decision. If the buyer is comparing an open-sided design with glass enclosure, send those two specifications with the price difference and ask which use matters most. If they are waiting for household agreement, arrange a joint discussion; if dimensions are uncertain, arrange measurement review. Record the reason for the pause and the date the buyer expects to revisit it.
