Configurix
Buyer guide

Should customers configure as guests or create an account?

Choose when configurator users need an account by separating product exploration, saving, quotations and restricted dealer access.

Customers do not always need an account to explore a product. Sign-in becomes more useful when the journey requires private prices, saved project ownership, dealer permissions or ongoing order access. Decide when identity is necessary instead of placing account creation at the beginning by default.

Map the commitments in the journey

Browsing, saving a draft, requesting an offer and accepting an order are different actions. Your business may allow public configuration while requesting contact details only when a customer asks for follow-up. Dealer access may need a different route because prices and records are restricted.

Keep the account decision tied to a purpose. Asking for information without explaining its use can interrupt a buyer before the product has answered their initial question.

Test the moment a guest becomes a known customer

Create a configuration without signing in, then complete the agreed save or enquiry action. Check that selections survive and the correct record receives the customer details. A form should not require the buyer to start again simply because an account was created.

Also test a mistyped email or interrupted confirmation step. The application needs an understandable recovery route without revealing another person's private projects.

Separate sharing from ownership

A link may be intended for public product sharing, private project access or collaboration with a salesperson. Define which meaning applies. A customer forwarding a link should not accidentally expose restricted commercial information.

Decide whether a shared configuration creates a copy or opens the original. That distinction matters when another person changes dimensions or adds an accessory.

Define the Configurix self-service journey

A Configurix self-service project can be scoped around public exploration and account-specific workflows. Bring the actions you want customers and dealers to complete, along with the records each role should receive. Confirm the authentication and recovery process included.

Will removing sign-in always increase useful enquiries?

Do not assume that it will. Measure completed, qualified enquiries and staff follow-up using your own journey. Account requirements should serve a clear business purpose.

Can guests save a project safely?

An appropriate save and recovery process can be designed. Specify ownership, link access, expiration and the information available before authentication rather than relying only on a convenient URL.
